SUSAN L. GOODKIN received her A.B. degree in History in 1980 from Harvard University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude. She received an M.A. degree in Politics and Economics in 1983 from Oxford University, where she studied on a Rhodes Scholarship. She received her J.D. degree cum laude, in 1985 from Harvard Law School.
From 1986 to 1990, Ms. Goodkin was a Deputy Attorney General in the Environmental Section of the California Attorney General's Office. In 1990 she founded her own practice. In addition to her litigation practice, she became Associate Director of the Negotiation Strategy Institute, where she coordinated programs on legal ethics and negotiation.
Ms. Goodkin has been involved in and responsible for administrative proceedings and civil litigation in a wide variety of subject matters. Her areas of experience include environmental and land use, insurance, education, employment, appellate litigation and complex litigation. She has also helped draft state and local ballot initiatives.
Ms. Goodkin is a member of the State Bar of California. From 1992-1993 she served on the Executive Committee of the Environmental Law Section of the California State Bar. She also lectures nationally on legal ethics and negotiation.
